As a reasonably small community of faith, we realise we can't do everything, but we can do small things with great love!
Here are some of the things we do at the Door of Hope.
Our Sunday morning worship time is relaxed and friendly. As the name suggests, we kick off at 9:00 a.m.
The service generall runs for about 90 minutes. This includes:
Worship through music. We sing a variety of new songs of worship as well as some classics.
Communion. This is something Jesus started as a way of remembering who we are, as people in need of grace, and what Christ has done for us.
Morning Tea. Yes, right in the middle of a Church Service we break for morning tea! We believe God likes to see His kids enjoying each others.
Teaching. Our messages are aimed at real life but grounded in the timelessness of the Bible.
Prayer. We include plenty of time for both individual and community prayers.
Kids Church caters for children aged 4 through primary school. It is conducted during the Teaching segment of the morning service.
Young people can and do make powerful contributions to the world right now.
Providing fun, challenge & adventure for all school-aged males, BB trains and empowers young people for effective leading & mission impact in their world today.
With an unashamedly Christian foundation, BB has a proven track record for reaching out and providing mentoring programs for boys of all backgrounds, abilities & interests - broadening their horizons and skills with international recognition for their achievements.
Contact the Door of Hope Office or check out the Boys Brigade website.
We currently have a variety of small groups in operation.
These are designed to connect people more closely with a few friends who meet for encouragement, prayer and faith-based discussion. Please contact the Door of Hope Office for more information on these groups and which might be more suited to your needs.
KIDS HOPE AUS.
Door of Hope is excited to partner with KIDS HOPE AUS to run a mentoring program in Albert State School. Our church provides volunteer mentors to go into the school and spend one hour per week with a vulnerable child who needs some extra care and support. The impact and power of one-to-one mentoring can have a life changing effect on these children and gives that glimmer of ‘Hope’ that they need.
The KIDS HOPE AUS program also provides a wonderful relationship with our partner school and opportunities to serve them and help them in lots of other ways through that partnership. KIDS HOPE AUS has been operating in Australia for over 10 years and is in almost 350 churches and schools around the country. World Vision Australia helped implement the program in Australia and is still an ongoing supporter and partner. Go to www.kidshopeaus.org.au to find out more information or contact the church office.
Christmas can be one of the loneliest times of the year!
One of our greatest family holidays can be agonising for those with the BIG THREE
Death: Someone close has died and you're all alone.
Divorce: The family has separated, and someone is almos always left alone.
Distance: You're family is getting together for Christmas, and you can't get there.
Every year, we host the Door of Hope Christmas Dinner and invite those who would be on their own to be our guests.
The Biker Blessing was started by Pastor Dave, who is motorcycle rider, to pray for the safety of those who ride motorcycles of all types and size.
The morning starts with a Big Barbeque Brekky which is offered free to all.
That is followed by a church service which is specially designed to be "biker friendly."
Prayer is offered generally for the safety of all riders. Individuals also have the option of requesting personal prayers with them and their bikes.
The Mens Shed exists as a place where men can connect for encouragement.
The actual shed is yet to be built, but men can still come along to the Mens Shed house at 12 Howard Street for a game of pool, wide screen TV, to work on a project or just sit and chat.
